Our ever changing and sometimes unpredictable weather would suggest at least a pair of closed toed shoes, layering clothes, a good hat, some sunnies and chapstick/sunscreen.
If you forget your charger, don’t fret, we’ve got wireless charging stations in every unit and scattered throughout camp.
Heading to one of the many local hot springs? Bring a bath towel or rent one there. Please leave ours here at the campground.
A hungry belly because between Ouray and Ridgway you’re sure to set upon a few restaurants that pack a punch.

RIDGWAY, COLORADO
Our ride or die for obvious reasons, but we love this charming ranching community that has a heart of gold. The views are unparalleled and the community thrives year round with a mixture of locals, visitors and its ever evolving art community. Catch a farmers market, salmon in spawn or our renowned Skijoring or Rodeo event to feel the real history where John Wayne once filmed his movies.
OURAY
Hustle and bustle never looked so good! Your adventure awaits just south of us down valley and within 10 minutes you’re there, surrounded by jagged mountains, hilly roads and maybe a few mountain goats. Breweries, burgers and trails run aplenty in this historic mining town. Whether it’s icy conditions or sunny...the climbing’s always good in Ouray.
TELLURIDE
What can we say, it’s a favorite day trip over ‘round the mountain to this impressive community with so much to offer. We love grabbing a coffee and heading up the mountain on the gondola. With so much to do, shop, eat and drink....you’ll lose track of time and need to call a ride to bring you back home to Basecamp 550.
SILVERTON
If you can stomach the drive down the million dollar highway or through an off road mountain pass or two, you’re sure to be relieved to have two feet on the dusty trail once you reach downtown. This community is full of history, grit and the love of thrills for adventure. Definitely worth the trip...on a nice, sunny day, that is.
MONTROSE/ BLACK CANYON
They’ve got you covered from flying into town to fly fishing the Uncompahgre river. Another day trip we’d suggest hiking or driving the magnificent Black Canyon followed by food and drink in Montrose.
