Basecamp 550 is a Glampground for the modern gypsy, weekend jetsetter or outdoor adventure seeker looking for a comfortable and convenient place to enjoy the San Juan Mountains and their surrounding area. Nothing fancy here, just providing comfortable unique stays for guests to share with their friends and family! Basecamp 550 is transitioning from old campground into an eclectic eco-friendly glamping destination at the gateway of the San Juan Mountains. Our rentals such as Glamping Tents, Tiny Chalets and Deluxe Tiny Homes are available to book our website or Airbnb. We offer daily, weekly and monthly RV camping as well.
Ridgway sits at an altitude of 6,985 feet in the valley of the San Juan Mountains. Extreme weather can occur with a flip of a switch. Our area is known to have strong winds, rain and snow storms and hail. Weather can also impact wifi signals. Avoid sunburns by bringing sunscreen and appropriate clothing.
October - April visitors, please take note that temperatures will likely be below freezing at night and water fixtures in your RV or bath house can freeze up.
Basecamp 550, just two miles south of Ridgway, sits between Highway 550 and the Weber Ranch. We’re situated close to the road but with wonderful pastoral views of the valley floor. Depending on the season, you may share the air with some friendly cow neighbors and their babies, wildlife passing through the neighborhood or the buzz of traffic on the road. Ridgway is a small town with a population of 932 people. We’re about 30 minutes to the Montrose Regional Airport where most travelers fly into when visiting the area. We’re conveniently located between Telluride, Silverton, Ouray and Montrose.

Families with children are welcome. Please note that are an adult-focused environment with very limited amenities for children.
Well behaved pets are welcome for RV guests, permitting there is no aggressive or nuisance behavior that could impact the enjoyment for other guests.
Alcohol/drug policy: No illegal drugs permitted at all. Excessive drinking not permitted.
Wifi signal is usually fast, unless there is a storm or strong winds or the mountains say otherwise.

What to Bring?
Sun protection: sunscreen, hats, sunglasses
Pack lots of layers as evenings are quite chilly and days heat up.
Closed toe shoes are recommended.
