Things to Know
Basecamp 550 is a little bit motel and a little bit campground that is privately owned and sits on 3 acres. We may be small, but we pack some pretty big views. We’re open year round for the seasonal travelers to make basecamp at the foot of the San Juan Mountains. Eclectic accommodations range from canvas glamping tents, tiny homes, vintage trailers and RV campsites. We welcome the gypsies, mountaineers, jet setters, photographers, hunters and everyone in-between to visit our slice of paradise.
Ridgway sits at an altitude of 6,985 feet in the valley of the San Juan Mountains. Extreme weather can occur, so please make sure you are prepared. Avoid sunburns by bringing sunscreen and appropriate clothing.
October - April visitors, please take note that temperatures will likely be below freezing at night and water fixtures in your RV or bath house can freeze up.
Ridgway is a small town with a population of 932 people. We’re about 30 minutes to the Montrose Regional Airport where most travelers fly into when visiting the area. We’re conveniently located between Telluride, Silverton, Ouray and Montrose.
